Fashion Week and Flowers?

New York City’s Fashion Week commenced last week with shows from all the big names in the industry. I’m not one to follow all the trends when it comes to fashion – especially when most of the pieces are made for the Kate Mosses of the world. However, I do think it’s important to recognize the connection between the fashion industry and the floral industry. Most of the time, an up and coming trend makes its mark upon the retail market across the board. The home decor and fashion industries are major players as far as setting trends that will overflow into other industries, especially any field that has a creative aspect. Eventually these trends become what the consumer is searching for, and that’s the golden ticket we all want to have!

If you want a recap, Harpers Bazaar gives the full run-down on what’s hot from NYC Fashion Week 2014.  As for my two cents…I’d say this spring be on the look out for pretty soft pastels, bold graphic prints and texture, texture, texture!

Just for fun I’ve paired some images from this year’s runway with some of our designs. It’s fun to see parallels in color, textures and styles from two completely different creative disciplines.

Here’s to a trendy spring for all!!
