Gatsby and Glamour

With the re-make of the movie The Great Gatsby hitting the big screen, there is already a buzz of new wedding trends that are glamorous and full of vintage flare.  The movie is set in the Roaring 20’s which was a time of economic prosperity following World War I. The Art Deco period was at its peak and introduced rich colors, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation.  This time in history represented luxury, glamour, exuberance and faith in social and technological progress.

So what does this mean for today’s wedding trends….Glam it up!  You can’t go wrong with chandeliers, candelabrum or just a plethora of candle light for ambiance.  As far as color schemes, stick with metallics and blacks paired with neutrals (maybe a pop of a bold accent color such as lipstick red or deep violet).  Cascading floral bouquets are a nice touch for the bride.  To enhance the glam a little more adorn the bouquet with feathers, rhinestones or beading.  Think on a grand scale when creating centerpieces.  Tall statement glass designs are classic and able to exude the wow factor!  (Check out our Grand Estate line for ideas)

These are just a few insights into the Roaring 20’s.  Take a look below for more visual inspiration.  I’d love to see any designs you have created that have been inspired by this era… feel free to email me pics!
